ORGANISERS of the Justin Tkatchenko Super Nines tournament have issued a warning to teams who ignored competition rules by fielding overaged players in the Under-20 division.
Tournament director Bagelo Solien said teams would not field overaged players in the semifinals for the cup, plate and bowl on Saturday.
He said league secretary Steven Francis was assigned to ensure team officials were honest.
Francis warned team officials that overaged players would be removed from the field before games started.
“We all should be honest and allow fair play to determine the outcome of the match,” Francis said.
“These (overaged) players were identified during the pool matches but ignored advise from the tournament organisers.
“I will make sure that these players don’t take the field of play at all.”
Francis said if team officials believed that a player in question was below 20, they should produce birth certificates, NID or current school identification card as proof.
“This will verify his correct age as evidence and proof of his date of birth.
“These players should play in the senior men’s event rather than against teenagers.”
